Keeping Klang Clean with Door-to-Door Rubbish Collection
27 Sep 2023
Join the Movement for a Cleaner Klang!
The Klang Municipal Council (MPK) has taken a significant step towards ensuring a cleaner and greener Klang. With the recent swearing-in of Zaireezal Ahmad Zainuddin as the acting deputy president of MPK, the city's focus on cleanliness has been reignited, and a new initiative has been put into motion: door-to-door rubbish collection.
This initiative is not just a symbolic gesture but a proactive step to address Klang's cleanliness issues. The town's cleanliness is not only the responsibility of the council but also of every resident. This is where you, as a proud resident of Klang, come into play.

The New Deputy President's Commitment to Cleanliness
Zaireezal Ahmad Zainuddin, with a wealth of experience in various MPK departments, has outlined his vision for a cleaner Klang. His primary goal is to reduce the quantity of solid waste and promote recycling within the community. To achieve this, he emphasizes the importance of awareness and enforcement. This means that each resident must play their part in keeping the town clean.
MPK's Door-to-Door Rubbish Collection
One major step in the right direction is the door-to-door rubbish collection initiative, recently launched by KDEB Waste Management in collaboration with MPK. The objective is to make rubbish disposal more convenient for villagers by collecting waste directly from their homes.
Understanding MPK's Wheelie Bin Requirement
To ensure the success of this initiative, MPK requires the cooperation of all villagers. According to the council's Garbage Collection, Removal, and Disposal By-law 2007, it is now mandatory for every household in traditional villages to have their own wheelie bin, whether it's 70 liters or 120 liters in size. Additionally, all shop owners must have their own wheelie bins for their business premises, with required sizes being 240 liters or 660 liters. This initiative ensures that waste collection is efficient, timely, and contributes to a cleaner Klang.
A Call to Action for Every Villager
The success of this initiative ultimately depends on you, the residents of Klang. It's time to step up and take responsibility for our town's cleanliness. Here's what you can do:
-
Get Your Own Mobile Garbage Bin: Purchase a wheelie bin that suits your needs, either MGB 70L or MGB 120L for household use or MGB 240L or MGB 660L for business premises if applicable. This is a one-time investment that will make waste disposal more convenient and efficient.
-
Place Your Bin at the Designated Spot: Ensure that your wheelie bin is placed in front of your home or business premises on collection days according to the schedule provided by MPK. This will make it easier for the workers to collect the waste.
-
Recycle and Reduce Waste: Be conscious of the waste you generate. Make an effort to recycle and reduce the amount of solid waste you produce. This not only benefits the environment but also eases the burden on the collection process.

In Conclusion
The door-to-door rubbish collection initiative is a crucial step towards making Klang cleaner and more sustainable. But its success depends on the active participation of every resident. By following MPK's guidelines and purchasing a mobile garbage bin of the appropriate size, you contribute to a cleaner and more beautiful Klang.
It's essential to note that a buffer time of three months from October 1, 2023, has been given to villagers and business owners to comply with the new regulations. Act now before summonses are issued!

-
